EDITORIAL DIRECTOR
David Bowen cofounded New American Press in 2002. His work has appeared in The Literary Review, Colorado Review, Flyway, Serving House Journal, and elsewhere. He completed a PhD at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and an MFA at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. He lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
SERIES EDITOR
Jason Lee Brown coedits the anthology series New Stories from the Midwest. His books include the historical novel Prowler: The Mad Gasser of Mattoon, the novella Championship Run, and the poetry chapbook Blue Collar Fathers. His fiction has appeared in Kenyon Review, The Literary Review, North American Review, The Journal, Southern Humanities Review, Ecotone, and elsewhere. A graduate of the Southern Illinois University Carbondale MFA program, Jason lives in Champaign, Illinois, where he serves as editor-in-chief at River Styx.

Carrie George is an MFA candidate at the Northeast Ohio MFA program. She is a poet with a background in journalism. Her work has appeared in Scribendi, Grub Street, Spectrum Literary Journal, and Luna Negra.

Cameron Gorman is a recent graduate in journalism from Kent State University, where she was the editor-in-chief of Luna Negra, a student-run literary arts journal. She is now pursuing her MFA at The Ohio State University, where she serves as an associate poetry editor for The Journal.

Brian Herrick is a bluish-collared man who most of the time wears t-shirts. He studied literature at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and completed his MFA at Pacific University.

Shanie Latham coedits the anthology series New Stories from the Midwest. She served as River Styx's Managing Editor from 2009 to 2013. She earned a BA in Media Studies from the University of Houston Clear Lake and a MFA in Creative Writing from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She is Assistant Professor of English at Jefferson College in Missouri.

Scott Mashlan completed his MFA at Lesley University and teaches at Milwaukee Area Technical College. Scott's work has appeared in BULL and received finalist honors at Glimmer Train. He lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Nina Palattella is the editor in chief of Brainchild, the literary and arts journal of the Mid-East Honors Association. In addition to her work with New American Press and Brainchild, Nina serves as the writing intern for the Kent State University Honors College. She has been published in Scribendi and Luna Negra, for which she has also served as an editor. In 2018, she received the Anna Ulen Engleman Creative Writing Award for her story “Flightless Birds.”
